‘The Glamour of Italian Fashion 1945-2014’ was a comprehensive exploration of the development of Italian fashion since WWII. The exhibition looked at the designers, fashion houses and skilled craftsmanship that have helped make Italy synonymous with style. To celebrate the opening of the exhibition and launch a fund dedicated to the support of its fashion collection, the V&A hosted a dinner with exhibition sponsor Bulgari and in partnership with Vogue. Working as part of the V&A’s fundraising team, Kate coordinated the launch of the fund and managed the guest list, seating plan and VIP liaison.
A suitably elegant evening was designed to reflect the glamour of the exhibition. Kate worked with both UK and Italian Vogue to coordinate a star-studded guest list which included legendary designers Dolce & Gabbana, Tom Ford and Valentino, high-net-worth individuals and the international fashion press. The event was a spectacular success and a fantastic platform from which to emphasise the significance of the V&A to the fashion world and the importance of securing the future of its collection.
The opening dinner for ‘The Glamour of Italian Fashion: 1945-2014’ was overseen by Kate Brier during her time at the V&A.
